~~wheezes second vday lepitsune and probably the last uqu! i really like how this one came out ahh (it was also originally made with the terrible pun lepitsundere in mind.. looks away)~~

Bittersweet Spectrum:
This lepitsune has a rather jaded outlook on love; perhaps it once had its heart broken or witnessed one too many unhappy endings between couples. It has rare heart-shaped ears and wings, and an uncommon crest of fur along its back. The permanent halo of energy manifested above its head is a sign of the extra power it was gifted with at birth, and it primarily grants wishes made by lonely individuals finding it hard to move on. It emanates a special aura that gives such people hope; despite whatever bitter feelings it may harbour itself, what it want is for everyone to find happiness in the end.

Species Information:

Born from wishing stars, lepitsunes are small creatures who are sent to Earth to begin their lifelong quest of granting wishes. The more wishes they grant, the more they grow, until one day they've finally grown big and strong enough to take flight back to the stars. Initially given in glass jars and lanterns to individual people to be their partners, the choice is theirs whether to remain with them their whole lives or journey around the world instead.

Lepitsunes primarily grant wishes by giving the wisher a boost of motivation or luck in order to achieve their goal. For more healing-based, materialistic or otherwise impossible wishes, they have a small reserve of magical power that can be used to grant them, and they recharge it by being exposed to moonlight. Likewise, lepitsunes themselves survive off of moonlight; deprive one of its sight of the moon for too long, and it will gradually weaken and die.

While it's up to them what wishes they choose to grant, different emotions and intentions behind the wishes lead to different kinds of growth. For example, an undiscerning lepitsune who grants any wishes they can, solely so they can grow up faster, will grow differently from one who selectively grants wishes that it believes are more significant.

A lepitsune's time on Earth comes to an end when they return to the stars, but while all lepitsunes start off wanting to return to the stars, many choose to remain on earth with all its sights and sounds and people, getting so attached to the planet with all its sights and sounds and people that they choose to stay there for the rest of their lives and do their best to make the world a better (or depending on the individual, worse) place. Others may even get so attached to their initial partners they never stray far from where they were eventually laid to rest, and graveyards are frequently lit up at night by patches of glowing stardust shed from their wings.
